Although Halloween has pasted, Ashton Jeanty continues to haunt defensive coordinators.
No 2025 NFL Prospect has a chokehold on NFL GMs quite like Jeanty. He is the everything you look for in a modern NFL running back: Elite burst, field tilting speed, high end elusiveness and power. But the skill that will send him flying up draft boards is his ability as a receiver. As he played WR for a year in high school, it immediately reflects on the tape watching him run routes and pluck the ball out of the air.
Many early on had concerns with how Ashton’s skillset would fare against power 5 programs with future NFL defensive players. I will direct you to Ashton Jeanty’s game vs current #1 Ranked Oregon where he dropped a “light” stat line of 192 yards, 7.7 AVG yards per carry and 3 TDs. What have we learned? Michael Myers has mercy for no one.
The resume has been filled out and it’s exceptional. Now Jeanty’s draft stock will move strongly according to two things: IF he get a chance to ball out in the College Football Playoffs, and his NFL Combine performance.
Personally, do I care how he performs during these events? No shot. But as we know, the never ending NFL Draft Hype Train will eat up these 2 performances like candy. Just imagine: December 21st there will be 32 NFL owners watching the CFP with their families over Christmas break. Each one sitting in their lazy boys, as their grandchildren are hyping up Jeanty as he rips off a 80 yard run on national television. THAT right there, is how you become a Top 10 Pick in the NFL Draft.
